What to Do in a Dental Emergency

Here are a few quick steps you can take before coming in:

Tooth Pain:

Rinse with warm water and gently floss to remove any trapped food.

Knocked-out permanent tooth:

Handle the tooth by the crown (not the root), gently rinse if dirty, and try to place it back in the socket or store it in milk. Call us immediately.

Chipped or broken tooth:

Save any pieces if possible and rinse your child’s mouth with warm water.

Swelling:

Apply a cold compress to the outside of the cheek and contact our office right away.

If your child is in pain or something doesn’t look right, it’s always best to have it checked. When in doubt, give us a call. We’ll help you decide the next step.
