What is a Tooth Extraction?

Tooth extractions involve completely removing a specific tooth. This could be to remove baby teeth so that the adult teeth come in properly, or to remove teeth that are experiencing decay past the point of being saved.

The extraction process starts by numbing the area around the tooth. Then the tooth is loosened after the numbing process is complete, followed by the tooth being removed using forceps. The dentist will use water to ensure there is no debris left in the socket.

This ends with the being filled with gauze material, or stitched together for more complicated extractions.
